My 3rd Great Grandfather
This was the first piece of evidence I had in tracing my family roots back to slavery in America. This lead me to traveling down south to where my ancestors were enslaved.
This work examines that time period by working with historical documents and photographs as well as creating new photographic work with my family, and blending the two as one. As I search for more clues in my own family history the work begins to open up questions regarding racial passing, hybridity, and power structures throughout our nations history.
